When Shannon and Dawna first met at Rudy and Kelly's School of Hair Design nearly 18 years ago, the thought of opening a salon never crossed their minds as they were doing roller sets on mannequins and practicing their color skills on classmates.
They both graduated and began working together at Appearances the Salon under Brenda Gruver. After only a couple of years of working there, in walked Rebekkah looking for a job.
Over the years, hair shows, seminars, concerts, long talks, and trips down to the Outer Banks being groupies to a band called "Red Letter Day," all helped their friendships and professions grow. During one of the many trips to the Outer Banks, they sat listening to Red Letter Day sing their signature song "4 Bowls of Color" and it dawned on the 3 of them that those words would make a great name for a hair salon.
After working together for almost 10 years the opportunity arose for a professional move. By that time in their relationship the 3 of them had discussed opening a salon and had a mutual respect for each other's professionalism and what each could offer the company.
They found a place for their dream and so it began. The hard labor, the mental fatigue and the anguish of decisions and deadlines. All could breathe a little easier on May 19, 2003 when "3 Bowls of Color" opened their doors to the public.
Through communication, continued education and support from a countless number of people, Dawna, Shannon and Rebekkah strive together to keep 3 Bowls of Color a great place to work and a great place for all to enjoy.
They would like to thank their family, friends, staff and loyal clientele for making the past several years an amazing experience.
