7 years ago, Dawna made a big decision and opened 3 Bowls of Color with Shannon and Rebekkah. After working together in another salon for 9 years, the opportunity arose to make the move and it has been, and continues to be, a great experience.

A graduate of Rudy & Kelly School of Hair Design and a proud member of this industry for 16 years, Dawna's love and passion for her career shows in her loyal clientel, her desire to continue her education and the work she puts out day after day.

Rebekkah started her career as a stylist in Colorado where she grew up. Early in her career she moved often and worked in three other states before finally settling here in Hampton Roads.

Rebekkah has been in the salon industry for 18 years. As she continues to hone her craft, she loves the continuing her education she receives in and out of the salon. The most exciting part of her career was opening 3 Bowls of Color with Dawna and Shannon. Together they constantly strive to improve the salon experience for their clients.

In 1992 Shannon made the amazing decision to go to cosmetology school. She was accepted to Rudy and Kelly School of Hair Design from which she graduated with top rankings and performance. She is a native of Newport News and for that reason decided to build a career here in this city. Her mentor hired her at her first salon, Appearances the Salon. Shannon worked there for 9 years and learned so much from her mentor and her team of stylists. During that time she also took many, many classes that have aided her in perfecting her skills. Also during that period of time she discovered that hair color is the most passionate part of her job followed closely by cutting and styling.

In 2003 she had the opportunity to open a salon with two close friends. 3 Bowls of Color Hair Salon opened in May of 2003. "It is an amazing creative environment," Shannon says. After so many years in the industry, she prides herself in giving her clients all that the industry has to offer. She has learned that strong communication between stylist and client is a key aspect in her success.

With her mother being a hairdresser and having growing up in the industry, Rachael knew early on that she was destined to be a great stylist.

She graduated from the Virginia School of Hair Design and started doing hair at 20 years of age. Rachael worked briefly in 2 other salons before she found her home as 3 Bowls of Color's first employee. Watching her blossom to the stylist she is today is always a proud moment for her 3 bosses.

Even though you may not recognize her at each appointment because of her constant hair changes, her talent always shines through in the consistency of her amazing work.

Whether you are looking for conservative chic, long luscious layers, or a modern and edgy do, Daniel is your man. He specializes in cuts and colors tailored to enhance your beauty and fit your lifestyle.

Daniel went to a Paul Mitchell school in Baltimore, Maryland and has been in the beauty industry for ten years. His combination of experience, talent, and knowledge will surely keep you coming back.

Creatively, Ashley Carter is multi-talented. She specializes in Natural Nail Services, Body Waxing and Massage. Her love of the industry has led her to all three areas of expertise. She prides herself on giving you the best experience possible at 3 Bowls of Color, and she would love to see you for any and all her many services.

Kari Louise Young is a stylist, make up artist and updo specialist. She has been in the salon industry for over 5 years with education and artistic approach always being the foundation of her passion. She began her career as an apprentice at Salon Vivace in Newport News and graduated from the New Horizons Regional Education Center. Kari has had experience using colorlines such as Wella and Davines and is focusing her energy on continuing to educate herself in all aspects of the industry. "I believe it is super important to not only educate myself but my clients as well," she notes. While outside of the salon, Kari loves coffee, dancing and spending time with her family.

Ashley has been working in the salon industry for a lttle over 4 years now. She grew up in and around the Newport News and York County area, and loves making people look and feel good about themselves. She completed her apprenticeship at 3 Bowls of Color, and recently obtained her cosmetology liscense. "Every day is different in the salon; I can truly say I look forward to coming to work every day," Ashley says. "Becoming a cosmetologist is challenging and rewarding. I love this industry and truly believe I will be a success."

Heather Goodfield is an apprentice at 3 Bowls of Color who already has the knowledge and skills to become an excellent stylist. Growing up in a very structured school and family life, her first thoughts were to be in corporate America. After five and a half years she realized this was not for her. Heather has extensive knowledge in make-up artistry, creating amazing looks for all occasions. She is very excited to become a star in the hair industry, knowing that customer service, skill and attitude are all very important to her success. We are all looking forward to watching her learn, grow and become an important part of the 3 Bowls of color team.

Note that as of Wednesday, Feb.1, 2012, Heather is now taking clients. She is very talented and would love the chance to do your hair. Her services are deeply discounted and of course supervised by the 3 Bowls. :) It's a great opportunity for you to get amazing hair. Heather works Mondays and Wednesday thru Saturday (she is off Tuesdays).

Kimberly has been in Newport News raising her family for 8 years. She is an industry expert creating beautiful hair for over 12 years. Kimberly started her career in the hair industry in Indiana, knowing since childhood that she wanted to be a stylist. She worked outside of Chicago where she was Vidal Sassoon trained and continued perfecting her skills. She brought her knowledge of Keratin Complex to 3 Bowls of Color and is amazing at creating wonderful special occasion styles. She one day hopes to become an educator in our industry. Heather has lived in Virginia all her life. When she was 10 she moved to the Foxhill area of Hampton. In her neighborhood was a woman who was a hairstylist, and Heather spent many days with her learning all about the industry, knowing then she wanted to be a hairdresser. At 17 she started with a school program to receive her license. She is very motivated and loves continuing her learning everyday.
